C-K coordinating donations for people displaced from the fire at 99 McNaughton Ave. West in Chatham

In response to the fire at 99 McNaughton Ave. West, there have been many community members inquiring about donating items to those affected by the fire.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has set up three temporary donation drop-off locations and will be adding more locations as they become available,. Municipal officials say.

Donation drop-off locations currently include:

– Betty Bright Dry Cleaners – 108 Keil St. S. in Chatham – drop off Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

– SkyLine building at 150 Mary St. in Chatham – drop off between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., seven days a week. There will be donation bins inside the front door.

– SkyLine building at 805 Grand Ave. W. in Chatham – drop off between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., seven days a week. There will be donation bins inside the front door.

“Donation items can include adult clothing for men and women, hygiene products and food items,” Municipal officials said in a media release.

“Many of the displaced residents are temporarily staying in hotel rooms and are not able to cook food. Non-perishable food items would be appreciated, such as: peanut butter, fruit cups, apple sauce cups, crackers, cereal bars, granola bars, cereal, juice boxes, tea bags, instant coffee, sugar, and powdered creamer. Furniture items are currently not being accepted.”

Pet and Wildlife Rescue (PAWR) at 405 Park Ave. E. in Chatham is also seeking donations of dog food, cat food, and kitty litter for pets that have been temporarily rehomed at PAWR, Municipal officials added.

The blaze is still under investigation.
