4th annual Cultivating Conservation Tour taking place September 11 in Chatham-Kent

Take a road trip around Chatham-Kent during the 4th Annual Cultivating Conservation Tour hosted by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority.

During the tour on September 11, 2024, we will celebrate the 5th anniversary of ALUS (Alternative Land Use Services) Chatham-Kent.

From 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the tour offers community members a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of agriculture and conservation through a self-guided visits of local project sites dedicated to improving soil and water health, including:

– Wetlands

– Tree planting

– Tallgrass prairie

– Erosion control

– Exclusion fencing

– Cover crops

The tour sites help demonstrate best practises, and emphasize how initiatives dedicated the improvement of soil and water health contribute to sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship in our community.

After the tour, attendees are invited to enjoy a free dinner at Red Barn Brewing Co. at 6 p.m., generously funded by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness.

Dinner is a great opportunity to network with fellow participants and discuss the day’s highlights.
