Update: OPP investigating after four ranbow crosswalks were vandalized in Petrolia

OPP officials allege: On Sunday, September 22, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of vandalism to four rainbow crosswalks in the town of Petrolia.

Investigation revealed that unknown suspects attended various locations in the town of Petrolia; Greenfield Street, Blanche Street, Dufferin Avenue and Maple Street and proceeded to deface four crosswalks.

Lambton OPP is currently investigating and is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for this act of vandalism.

Residents and businesses in the area are encouraged to check their video surveillance systems for any suspicious activity that may have occurred between the hours of 2 a.m. to 4 a.m., on September 22, 2024.

The Lambton OPP remain committed to keeping the communities safe and take all reports of vandalism seriously.

Criminal acts will not be tolerated and anyone who engages in vandalizing any property may face a criminal charge.
