Catholic School Board announces $11-million capital investments

St. Clair Catholic District School Board has completed a series of major capital improvement projects for the 2023-2024 school year, with investments totaling over $11 million.

These upgrades are part of the board’s ongoing efforts to enhance school facilities and create accessible, high-quality learning environments that promote student success.

Significant improvements include interior renovations at Sacred Heart in Port Lambton and Sacred Heart in Sarnia, as well as an accessibility upgrade for the entrance at St. Joseph in Corunna. St. Patrick’s High School received gym and classroom renovations to address enrollment needs, and Ursuline College saw renovations to its cafeteria along with rooftop unit replacements for enhanced heating and cooling efficiency.

Other upgrades, such as roofing improvements at Holy Trinity, and various site upgrades and enhancements to play and outdoor learning spaces across several schools, reflect the board’s commitment to both structural improvements and student-centered spaces.

“In a year marked by the opening of two new schools, our capital projects team has taken on an impressive number of upgrades, ensuring that all our students have access to the best possible learning spaces,” said Scott Johnson, Director of Education, in a media release.

“The team’s hard work and careful use of Ministry funding underscore our commitment to providing modern, well-equipped facilities that enhance student success.”

The board expressed gratitude to all project team members and the Board of Trustees for their continued support in these essential efforts.
