Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say Inspector Jason Chickowski has been appointed as the new Deputy Chief of Police, effective December 1, 2024.

“With 24 years of dedicated service, Jason brings valuable experience and a strong commitment to public safety,” police officials stated.

“He will oversee the daily operations of all four branches. Join us in congratulating Deputy Chief Jason Chickowski on this well-deserved appointment. We are confident his leadership will positively impact our community.”

Patrick Weaver, board chair of the Chatham-Kent Police Services Board, said in the fall of this year the board began an internal process to identify the next Deputy Chief of the Chatham-Kent Police Service.

“The process involved a 20-30 minute presentation on the organization’s strategic priorities, followed by a formal interview,” Weaver stated.

“At the conclusion of the process, the hiring committee was unanimous in their selection. With an impressive career spanning 24 years, all with the Chatham-Kent Police Service, Jason brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and leadership to our organization”.

Weaver added: “Throughout his career, Jason has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our members, public safety, and a deep understanding of our community. He has extensive experience across all aspects of our organization and has been instrumental in numerous initiatives and projects. As Deputy Chief, Jason will oversee the day-to-day operations of all four branches of our service. He will continue to work closely with our members and community partners to advance our mission of making Chatham-Kent a healthier and safer place for all.”

Police officials say a swearing-in ceremony will be held held at a future date.
