OPP officials allege: On December 7, 2024, shortly after 11:30 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single-vehicle collision on Rokeby Line, west of Telfer Road in St. Clair Township.
The collision occurred when a trailer being towed by a commercial motor vehicle became detached, subsequently leaving the roadway and colliding with a hydro pole, causing significant damage.
No injuries were reported.
Lambton County OPP, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO), conducted a thorough investigation.
As a result, a 34-year-old of Enniskillen Township has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following offences:
– Operate unsafe combination of vehicles – commercial motor vehicle
– Operate vehicle – fail to display inspection sticker or proof
– Fail to surrender completed daily inspection report
– Overweight vehicle – violate permit 7000kg
– Drive commercial motor vehicle – no valid CVOR certificate
– Wheel brake rendered inoperable – commercial motor vehicle
– Improper means of attachment – commercial motor vehicle
Rokeby Line between Telfer Road and Waubuno Road was closed for approximately eight hours to allow for the repair of the hydro pole.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court – Sarnia at a later date.
The Lambton County OPP reminds drivers of the importance of ensuring that all towed vehicles are properly secured and meet safety standards.
