Hart, Ellen Elizabeth (nee Hopper), a long-time resident of Dresden, passed away peacefully at Riverview Gardens, Chatham, on Monday, December 31, 2024 at the age of 76.

Ellen was a positive force in the world and always saw the good in everyone.

Her life was full of laughter and love.

Predeceased by her parents Murray and Shirley (Smith) Hopper and son-in-law Aaron Vandorsselaer (2021).

Cherished wife of 47 years to Bruce Hart.

Loving mother of Sarah Hart Coatsworth (Dennis) and Rachel Vandorsselaer.

Dear sister of Christopher, Kevin and Colin Hopper (Lesley). Born and raised in London, ON, Ellen started her career at London Life.

She met her future husband in a Canadian Literature night course at the University of Western Ontario.

Bruce and Ellen were married in London in 1977.

Starting a family in Windsor where Sarah was born, moving to London where Rachel was born, then living in Sarnia and moving to Dresden in 1990 where the family remains.

Ellen was the Office Manager of the Hart Household and at the Dresden Veterinary Clinic.

Ellen enjoyed reading, being a member of the Catherine McVean Chapter of IODE and United Church Women through Dresden United Church.

She was also a life-time member and President of the Fan Club of Sarah and Rachel.

Ellen and Bruce were a great team, raising a family and running a business together for 20+ years.

We would like to thank the staff of Riveriview Garden’s for their care of Ellen for the last 4 years.

Cremation has taken place.

The Hart family will receive friends at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North St. Dresden on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

A Memorial Service in the chapel of the funeral home will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.

Interment of Cremains in Blackburn Cemetery, Camden Twp.,.at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Chatham-Kent (c/o 36 Memory Ln, Chatham, ON N7L 5M8) would be appreciated.
