Certain brands of shell eggs recalled due to salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall warning on Saturday, January 18, 2025 after certain brands of shell eggs were recalled due to salmonella.

“The affected products are being recalled from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination,” CFIA officials say.

“Only eggs with the specific lot code information in the table above are affected.”

Here are the recalled products and codes:

CFIA officials added the recall is impacting Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba and possibly other provinces and territories.

CFIA officials say if you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, contact your healthcare provider.

“Check to see if you have recalled products,” CFIA officials say.

“Do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased. Consumers who are unsure if they have purchased the recalled products are advised to contact their retailer.”

CFIA officials added: “Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.”

The recall was triggered by test results, CFIA officials say.

“There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products,” CFIA officials added.
