Freezing rain warning issued in Chatham-Kent, winter weather travel advisory is in effect

A freezing rain warning has been issued in Chatham-Kent, as freezing rain is expected late this evening, February 12, into Thursday morning, February 13, 2025.

Environment Canada says freezing rain producing ice build-up near 2 mm is expected.

The precipitation is expected to begin late this evening and end Thursday morning.

“Precipitation will begin as snow late this afternoon and a winter weather travel advisory is in effect,” Environment Canada officials say.

“Snow is expected to transition to freezing rain late this evening before changing to either snow or rain Thursday morning. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.”
