Crime Stoppers looking for volunteers for upcoming golf tournament

Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers is looking for volunteers to assist with its ongoing crime prevention efforts through events, fundraising, community outreach, and educational initiatives.

Since 1987, the non-profit organization has played a vital role in community safety by providing a way for individuals to anonymously report criminal activity, with rewards offered for valuable tips.

“We are looking for more amazing community volunteers to help, especially with public events,” said Erica McIntosh, program coordinator for CK Crime Stoppers. “This is a great opportunity for people to engage with their community and help make Chatham-Kent an even better place to live.”

One of the major upcoming events requiring volunteer support is the CK Crime Stoppers 2nd Annual Golf Tournament, a key fundraiser ensuring the organization’s continued operations.

“We have amazing sponsors and welcome any business or community member who would like to contribute,” said McIntosh. “We also need volunteers for preparation, setup, and cleanup. Last year’s event was a huge success, and this year is shaping up to be even better.”

Crime Stoppers programs across Canada have helped solve thousands of cases, recover stolen property, and remove dangerous criminals from communities. In 2024 alone, CK Crime Stoppers cleared 120 cases thanks to tips and leads from the public, awarding thousands of dollars to qualifying tipsters.

According to the CK Crime Stoppers website, key benefits of volunteering include making a difference, giving back to the community, gaining valuable experience, meeting like-minded people, and raising awareness.

“Volunteers are at the very heart of our program,” said McIntosh. “Our board is made up of volunteers, our outreach is supported by volunteers, and for more than 38 years, it’s been volunteers leading the way.”
