Fentanyl, cocaine and cash seized after a traffic stop and simultaneous search warrant in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 2nd, 2024 members of the Intelligence Unit conducted a traffic stop on King Street, Chatham while the Emergency Response Team simultaneously executed a search warrant at a residence on Gray Street, Chatham in relation to an ongoing drug investigation.

During the traffic stop a 48-year-old Chatham man was arrested for possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

Upon searching the male incident to arrest police located the following:

– 49 grams of suspected fentanyl

– 9.2 grams of cocaine.

– A large quantity of Canadian Currency

A search of the residence was then completed during which time officers located digital scales, packaging material and a small amount of fentanyl.

As a result of the investigation the male accused has been charged with possession of fentanyl and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He has been released from custody with a future court date.
