William Tooshkenig left us peacefully to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the age of 80.
Beloved husband of 57 years to Shirley Tooshkenig (Huff) and loving and devoted father of Stephen W. Tooshkenig (Jann), Cheryl Mitchell (Robert Sr.) and Andrew Williams.
Cherished grandpa of Dale (Haley), Amanda (Kain), Cassie (Drew), Sierra (Elijah), Kaleb, Robert Jr., Rheanna and his 5 great grandchildren.
Son of the late John and Myrtle Tooshkenig and dear brother of Gladys (Don) Wonderly and the late James, Gail, Alexander and John. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family. William was a dedicated member of Walpole Island First Nation, serving his community on Band Council, as Chief for 7 years, Walpole Island Board of Education, Economic Development, Assembly of First Nations and AIAI.
Family and Friends are invited for community visitation at the Walpole Island Sports Complex on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 6-9pm with a wake service at 8pm. His funeral will be celebrated at the Sports Complex on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 11am with burial to follow at Highbanks Cemetery.
