Campus voting stations to open at 109 post-secondary institutions across Canada

Elections Canada is opening 109 Vote on Campus offices at colleges and universities across the country to make it easier for electors to cast their ballots in the upcoming federal election.

The temporary offices will operate from Sunday, April 13 to Wednesday, April 16, offering on-site registration and voting for any eligible Canadian — not just students.

The initiative allows electors who may be away from their home ridings during the election to vote by special ballot at the location nearest to them.

Proof of identity and address is required to vote, and electors can consult a list of accepted ID on the Elections Canada website.

Officials stress that voters may only cast one ballot. Anyone who votes on campus will not be permitted to vote again on election day or at advance polls. Elections Canada says it has safeguards in place to detect and address any attempts at double-voting, with suspected cases referred to the Commissioner of Canada Elections.

International students without Canadian citizenship are not eligible to vote.

Elections Canada is an independent, non-partisan agency that reports directly to Parliament.

Five candidates have been confirmed in the Chatham-Kent–Leamington riding for this month’s election:

– Dave Epp, Conservative Party of Canada

– Trevor Lee, People’s Party of Canada

– Seamus McInnis Fleming, New Democratic Party

– Keith Pickard, Liberal Party of Canada

– James Plunkett, Green Party of Canada

Election day is April 28, 2025.
