Elections Canada has mailed its federal election guide to households across the country, offering key information on how and when to vote.
The guide includes details on voter identification requirements, including what forms of ID are accepted at the polls.
It also serves as a reminder that electors who have not received a voter information card showing their correct name and address should take steps to register or update their registration.
Voters have until Tuesday, April 22 at 6 p.m. local time to register or make changes. Elections Canada says electors can register or update their information online through the agency’s Voter Registration Service, by contacting their local Elections Canada office, or at advance polls.
Advance polls will be open from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21, between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. local time. Voters can also register at their assigned polling station just before casting their ballot on election day if they haven’t done so by the deadline.
More information is available by calling 1-800-463-6868.
Elections Canada is also recruiting election workers for various paid positions. Applications can be submitted online or through local Elections Canada offices.
The agency is an independent, non-partisan body that reports directly to Parliament.
Five candidates have been confirmed in the Chatham-Kent–Leamington riding for this month’s election:

– Seamus McInnis Fleming, New Democratic Party
– Keith Pickard, Liberal Party of Canada
