With a feeling of peace we announce the passing of our mother Jacqueline Marie (nee Everaert) (Van Damme) Regnier, of Wallaceburg, with family by her side, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at CKHA – Chatham Site, at the age of 94.
Jacqueline was born in Staden, Belgium. She is the daughter of the late Jerome and Bertha (Desnouck) Everaert. She came to Canada in 1947 with her parents where she soon met her future husband Joe Van Damme and settled in Wallaceburg. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Van Damme (1979) and the late Clarence Regnier (1986). Loving mother and mother-in-law of Brenda (Bill) Dawson, Debbie (James Steele) Farlow, Cindy (Doug) Babbitt, Christine (Wes) Palimaka, Kim Van Damme, Janet Van Damme and Ron Riedl. Predeceased by her sons Jim Van Damme (2011), Jeff Van Damme (2021) and her daughter Loretta Riedl (April 30, 2025). Dear grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She will also be remembered by Clarence’s surviving family.
Jacqueline always said the best years of her life were spent on the farm raising her 7 children. She loved spending time painting, crocheting, knitting, gardening and playing cards and games with her grandchildren, and loved waltzing across a dance floor. The family would like to thank the Wallaceburg Retirement Residence staff for the many years of wonderful care our Mom received, and our gratitude to the CKHA Palliative Care staff for the compassionate care during her final days.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 5-7p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00a.m, from Our Lady Help of Christians Church.
