Group seeking local immigrants to join advisory group

The Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership is inviting newcomers to apply for its Immigrant Advisory Group, a volunteer committee designed to amplify immigrant voices and improve local settlement outcomes.

The group serves as a key resource to the CK LIP Council, offering input on the challenges and successes immigrants face in the region. It also plays an advisory role in shaping initiatives that help strengthen Chatham-Kent’s reputation as a welcoming and inclusive community.

Applicants must be 18 or older, currently reside in Chatham-Kent, and have immigrated through any stream. Members commit to a three-year term, attending in-person meetings four times a year.

Current member Bookie Oludotun describes the group as “a great forum to exchange ideas, learn more about the community and meet other immigrants from various cultural backgrounds.”

CK LIP Project Coordinator Lara Olukolu emphasized the importance of a broad range of perspectives, stating, “Diverse voices. Stronger CK.”

Applications are open until June 27, 2025, on the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent platform. More information is available at www.Chatham-Kent.ca/CKLIP.
