Motorized scooter operator charged with impaired driving in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 10, 2025, at approximately 1:38 a.m., Chatham-Kent Police officers observed a 25-year-old male from Chatham operating a motorized scooter while displaying signs of impairment. The individual failed to immediately stop when directed by police.

Later, he was located on foot in a nearby park, away from the scooter.

The male was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for breath tests.

He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired and failing to stop for police.

He was released with conditions and a future court date of May 26, 2025.

His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the scooter was impounded for 7 days.
