Repairs set to take place on Wallaceburg’s walking bridge

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is working to resolve an operational issue with the LO Stonehouse Bridge in Wallaceburg, as the lift span is currently not operable for the passage of larger boats.

“The bridge will remain open for pedestrian traffic, but may be closed intermittently for short durations while repairs are made over the next few weeks,” Municipal officials say.

“The LO Stonehouse Bridge was recently rehabilitated and re-opened in August 2024. The Contractor will be making modifications to the bridge’s lift mechanism ahead of operations for the Summer 2025 season. The bridge is expected to be operational by mid-June.”

Municipal officials added: “The other moveable bridges in Wallaceburg will be operational starting this week as the navigation season begins. The Municipality of Chatham-Kent thanks the public and boaters for their patience while this work is completed.”
