Port Lambton Bike Rodeo returns on June 7

Families in Port Lambton are invited to gear up for a day of two-wheeled fun and safety at the 2025 Bike Rodeo, set to take place Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MacDonald Park.

Hosted by the Sombra Township Optimist Club, the annual event returns with a full lineup of bike safety activities, maintenance checks, games and hands-on fun designed for children and their families. Organizers say the event, which is free to attend, offers an opportunity to teach essential cycling skills in a playful, community-oriented setting.

Participants can expect a mix of education and entertainment, from lessons on bike safety and basic maintenance to activities like face painting, bike decorating and interactive games. A free hotdog lunch and snow cone treats will also be available to keep families fueled throughout the morning.

Organizers will be handing out ballots for prize draws to all children who take part in the rodeo, offering another incentive for families to get involved.

“We really want to bring the community together for a day that’s fun, educational and memorable,” said a spokesperson for the Sombra Township Optimist Club. “It’s a great way to promote safety while also creating a space for laughter and connection.”

Volunteers are still being sought for the event, and local students can earn community service hours by helping out. Those interested are encouraged to get in touch with organizers for more details.

The Bike Rodeo will be held at MacDonald Park, located at 4310 Reedy St. in Port Lambton.
