Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Sarnia man accused in a domestic violence case has been arrested after allegedly breaching court-ordered conditions multiple times, according to Chatham-Kent police.
On May 3, officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a Chatham residence involving a 27-year-old man from Sarnia and a 28-year-old woman from Chatham. Following an investigation, the man was charged with five counts of assault and three counts of assault causing bodily harm. He was released with conditions, including having no contact with the victim and staying away from her home, workplace or school. He was scheduled to appear in court on June 2.
Police returned to the same location the following day, May 4, after receiving a report that the man had been seen in the parking lot of the victim’s residence. Officers were unable to locate him or his vehicle at the time, but further investigation determined that he had attempted to contact the victim and had been present at her home. Police say these actions violated the conditions of his release.
A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was subsequently charged with three counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
On May 30, at around 2:48 a.m., the Sarnia Police Service located and arrested the man on an endorsed warrant. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
