Sarnia Police Service officials allege: On June 15, 2025, at approximately 8 a.m., officers were conducting proactive foot patrols in the Laurel Lee area along Exmouth Street.
In the vacant lot at the intersection of Exmouth Street and Copland Road, several individuals were observed in littering beer cans in the trees. Eight individuals initially attempted to leave and refused to speak to police. However, the involved parties were visually or verbally identified.
One male identified himself with a false name. Officers quickly determined this male was a 37-year-old man of no fixed address. He was wanted on the strength of an arrest warrant for causing a disturbance and failing to comply with probation. He was taken into custody and held for bail.
The seven other individuals were motivated to clean up their litter, which they did, and were moved along without further incident.
“Officers have been diligently dedicating time to increase proactive visibility in this aream: stated Chief Derek Davis, Sarnia Police Service.
“This includes foot and bike patrols, as calls for service and resources permit. So far in 2025, our officers have dedicated 370 hours to this area alone, resulting in 22 arrests and 65 charges. We expect these efforts to continue throughout the summer as we deal with social disorder issues in various locations across the city.”
