Violent robbery in Chatham leads to an arrest in Blenheim

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been arrested and charged following a violent robbery at a Chatham business earlier this week.

On June 16, 2025, at approximately 6:14 p.m., Chatham-Kent Police responded to a report of a robbery after a 22-year-old employee was assaulted with a noxious substance. The victim managed to retreat to a secure area while the suspect accessed the cash register and fled with an undisclosed amount of money. No other items were taken. The employee later sought medical treatment for exposure to the spray.

Police launched an investigation and were able to identify the suspect through surveillance footage. Officers located and arrested the man on June 17 at approximately 12:44 p.m. in Blenheim.

He has been charged with one count of robbery with violence and remains in custody at Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters pending a bail hearing.
