Wallaceburg residents invited to weigh in on neighbourhood green projects

Residents in part of Wallaceburg will have a chance Thursday to learn more about a program aimed at making neighbourhoods greener, healthier and more climate-resilient.

A public engagement session for the Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Program (SNAP) will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Wallaceburg Municipal Centre. The drop-in event will give residents the opportunity to hear about the voluntary program and share ideas for small, funded projects such as tree planting, rain gardens, rain barrels, composters and pollinator patches.

The Wallaceburg session is open to those living in the area bordered by Dufferin Avenue, McNaughton Avenue, Wallace Street and the train tracks.

Similar sessions are taking place in Thamesville and Wheatley, with the first held Tuesday in Thamesville and another planned for Aug. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Village Resource Centre in Wheatley.

SNAP is being offered in partnership with Chatham-Kent and is intended to help participating communities adapt to climate change while enhancing local green spaces.
