Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 28-year-old Walpole Island woman has been charged with uttering threats after turning herself in to Chatham-Kent police in Wallaceburg on Monday.
Police say the charge stems from an investigation launched in March, after threatening messages were sent to a 30-year-old Wallaceburg woman through a social media platform. The messages allegedly contained threats to cause bodily harm.
A warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest earlier this year. On Aug. 18, she attended the Chatham-Kent Police Service office in Wallaceburg around 1:30 p.m. and surrendered to police.
She was charged with one count of uttering threats to cause bodily harm and later released with a Sept. 23 court date.
Police are reminding residents that threats of violence are taken seriously and will be investigated thoroughly.
