As the Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association begins its 75th season, players and families are marking the occasion with a back-to-school supply and food drive.
The initiative is aimed at supporting local families as they prepare for the new school year, a time organizers say can be financially challenging.
Donations of school supplies, non-perishable food items and personal care products are being collected this week at the Walpole Island Sports Complex during team ice times.
School supplies will be distributed to local elementary schools, while food and hygiene products will go to the Walpole Island Food Bank.
Organizers thanked the sports complex staff for their support and encouraged the community to come together to make a difference.
“As we return to the sport we love, we also recognize that back to school can be a stressful time for many families,” WMHA officials say.
“Between school supplies and packing lunches, the costs can add up fast. This week, let’s come together as a hockey community to help support local families in need.”
The drive will take place from September 2-7, 2025.
