Chatham woman turns herself in on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 38-year-old Chatham woman has been arrested after turning herself in on an outstanding warrant Thursday morning.

Police said the warrant stemmed from a June 2023 incident when officers responded to a mischief complaint tied to a neighbour dispute. At that time, investigators alleged the woman struck the windshield of a vehicle occupied by a 39-year-old Chatham woman, causing damage.

The accused was originally arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000. She was released with a court date in July 2023 but failed to appear twice, leading to a warrant being issued for her arrest.

On September 11 at about 9:47 a.m., the woman attended court and turned herself in. Police arrested her on the unendorsed warrant for failing to attend court. She was later released with a new court date set for October 10.
