Truth and Reconciliation walk planned in Wallaceburg on Sept. 30

A community walk to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will be held in Wallaceburg on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Organizers say the event will honour children who never returned home from residential schools and recognize the Survivors. The walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallaceburg Library and proceed to Civic Square Park, where a ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. The event is expected to conclude around noon.

Participants are encouraged to wear orange shirts in recognition of the day. The event is open to all community members.

The walk is presented by Walpole Island Employment & Training in partnership with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
