Charges laid after a theft in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Walpole Island man is facing charges after police responded to a shoplifting complaint in Wallaceburg.

Police say that on Oct. 1 at about 9:57 a.m., officers were called to a retail store after a man concealed several items and tried to leave without paying.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

He was taken to Chatham-Kent police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date.
