Man charged after disturbance and impaired driving incident in Wheatley

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 45-year-old Wheatley man is facing multiple charges after a disturbance on Little Street on October 6, 2025.

Police were called to the area around 7:41 a.m. after a verbal argument between the man and his ex-common law partner escalated to threats. The man reportedly attempted to flee on a motorcycle but fell due to intoxication.

He was arrested and transported to the Ontario Provincial Police Leamington Detachment for breath tests before being taken to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters. The man was charged with uttering threats, impaired operation of a vehicle, refusal to provide a breath sample, assaulting a police officer, and several Highway Traffic Act offences.

Once sober, he was released on a Form 10 with conditions and a future court date of October 21, 2025.
