ComeTogetherCK is highlighting an often-overlooked stage of women’s health with the launch of a new online event series focused on perimenopause and menopause.
The first session, Perimenopause & Menopause Q&A, will take place Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. on Facebook Live. The event will feature Dr. Jessica Smith, obstetrician/gynecologist at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, and will be moderated by Denise Waddick, a local health care leader and advocate for women’s wellness.
Dr. Smith, who recently joined the CKHA team, will answer questions and help clarify the changes that occur during perimenopause and menopause — a time marked by hormonal shifts, physical symptoms, and emotional transitions that can deeply affect quality of life.
“Women often navigate this stage of life without the information or reassurance they deserve,” said Dr. Smith. “My hope is to normalize these conversations and provide practical, evidence-based information that helps women better understand what’s happening in their bodies. When women feel informed, they can make confident choices about their health.”
“This conversation is long overdue,” added Waddick. “So many women experience these changes silently, unsure of what’s normal or where to turn for help. We want to open that dialogue and help women feel seen, supported, and informed.”
The live, interactive Q&A invites women of all ages to participate, either by joining live or submitting anonymous questions in advance to info@cometogetherck.com. The session is the first in a series of women’s health events that ComeTogetherCK will host in the coming weeks, each designed to offer education, connection, and community-based support for women navigating different aspects of their health journey.
“ComeTogetherCK has always been about connecting people and sparking meaningful conversations,” said organizer Fannie Vavoulis. “This new series is part of our commitment to ensuring that local women have access to trusted information, local expertise, and a safe space to talk openly about their experiences.”
The event will stream live on Facebook at @ComeTogetherCK, with updates and future session details available on ComeTogetherCK’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
