OPP warn fans to watch for World Series ticket scams

Ontario Provincial Police are warning fans to be cautious when purchasing World Series tickets online as scammers take advantage of major events to trick eager buyers.

Police said fraudulent sellers often post tickets on questionable third-party websites or social media marketplaces, offering deals that seem too good to be true. Buyers are urged to purchase only from official sources and to avoid sellers who cannot provide proof of purchase.

Fraudsters may also try to create a sense of urgency to pressure buyers into quick decisions. Police advise using credit cards when shopping online, as they often offer purchase protection and potential refunds. Payments made through cryptocurrency, gift cards, cash, or bank transfers are not recommended.
