OPP officials allege: The Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police are reminding drivers to stay alert as deer activity increases during the fall months.
Police say they continue to respond to motor vehicle collisions involving deer across the county. Deer are most active during dawn and dusk when visibility is reduced, and motorists are urged to use extra caution on rural and wooded roads.
“Drivers should be extra vigilant on the roads,” police said, noting that slowing down, using high beams when possible, and maintaining a safe following distance can help reduce the risk of collisions.
Police also advise drivers to brake firmly if a deer appears in or near their path and to avoid swerving, as doing so can lead to more serious crashes.
The OPP are encouraging motorists to stay safe this deer season and help reduce the number of wildlife-related collisions.
Anyone with information about incidents is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
