Woman seriously injured after being pinned by vehicle in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: An 82-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a motor vehicle incident on King Street East in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to the scene at approximately 1:46 p.m. on March 30, where they found the woman pinned beneath a vehicle.

Police said the investigation determined the woman had exited her vehicle while it was still in reverse, causing it to move and strike her.

Officers provided immediate assistance until paramedics arrived, and the woman was transported to hospital for treatment.

Police are reminding residents to ensure their vehicle is securely in park and the parking brake is engaged before exiting.
