A new locally produced documentary exploring the housing crisis in Chatham-Kent will make its red carpet debut this weekend.
UNHOUSED: Communities in Crisis, produced by Sisters Strain Films, will be screened at the Capitol Theatre on Saturday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for red carpet photos.
Thanks to generous community sponsors, admission to the event is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations to support Outreach for Hunger. Suggested items include rice, pasta, flour, oatmeal, coffee, tea, cereal and children’s snacks.
“We were very fortunate to find community sponsors to host this evening event free to the public and will also be accepting food item donations for Outreach for Hunger,” the filmmakers said.
The documentary, created by local filmmakers, and twin sisters, Kat and Karissa Strain, highlights stories and realities of homelessness across the community.
