Update: The snow squall watch has ended.
Lambton County and areas near the eastern shore of Lake Huron are expected to see heavy lake effect snow today through Tuesday morning, according to Environment Canada.
Forecasters warn that total accumulations could reach between 15 and 30 centimetres, with some areas potentially seeing significantly higher amounts. Blowing snow may also cause locally reduced visibility.
Lake effect snow off Lake Huron is expected to persist through the day and may occasionally extend toward Lake Erie. Northerly winds will shift to northwesterly later today into early Tuesday, causing the heaviest snowfall to move east and southeast of Lake Huron.
Environment Canada says there is potential for very heavy accumulations and intense snowfall rates tonight into Tuesday morning, particularly if snow bands become stationary. The snow is expected to ease in intensity by Tuesday afternoon.
Officials are urging drivers to prepare for rapidly changing and hazardous travel conditions, as visibility could drop to near zero at times and roads may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
Residents are encouraged to monitor weather alerts and forecasts and to report severe weather to Environment Canada or by posting on X using #ONStorm.
