Judy Cornell

Judith Ann (Milliken) Cornell, was born in 1948 and raised in London, Ontario, the daughter of Norman George (2014) and Thelma Marjorie (Porterfield) Milliken (2010). She graduated from Lucas S.S. and was immediately hired by the school as an office secretary. Judy married her next door neighbour, Bill Cornell, Nov 29, 1969 and the couple moved to Wallaceburg for work related reasons. Judy worked as a switch board operator at Sydenham District Hospital for a brief period before transferring to Wallaceburg District Secondary School as the attendance secretary. She retired in 1999. Judy enjoyed her newfound freedom in retirement by spending relaxing time with gardening, golfing, shopping, socializing and caring for her feline family. On occasion she would get the roller skates out and travel to Sarnia or London to renew that passion. Judy was well known for her big smile whenever she greeted anyone. She was a social butterfly and enjoyed spending time with friends, neighbours and anyone that happened by, especially on the deck at Mitchells Bay. She loved it there! Judy inherited many of her mother’s positive attributes, her attractive appearance, her big smile, her petite size, and friendly demeanor but, she also inherited the despicable Alzheimer’s disease. It has been so dis-heartening to watch such an attractive, friendly, bubbly individual slowly deteriorate. It is so much a vile disease that no one should have to endure. Judy remained at home under the care of her husband until valuable assistance was required and provided by VON staff. A big thank you to Shannon & other staff members of the VON. On May 04th, 2023, Judy was transferred to the professional care provided by the staff at Fairfield Park Nursing Home. Their service is highly recommended. Judy quietly & peacefully passed away at noon, Saturday, Nov 15th, 2025. Judy is survived and remembered by husband Bill, brother Alan (Connie) Milliken of London, ON, sister-in-law Cindy Otten, 4 nieces & her feline family. The funeral proceedings are entrusted to Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, Nelson St., Wallaceburg, Ontario. This service is limited to relatives & close friends. On Wednesday, Nov 19th, relatives and close friends will gather at the funeral home between 11:30 am – 1:00 pm for visitation & comments. Interment at Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg, Ontario to follow. In lieu of flowers & cards, Judy would have appreciated if anyone considering a donation, please think of charities for the Alzheimer Society, PAWS or the OSPCA.
