Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Two women from Sarnia are facing charges after police responded to a shoplifting incident at a St. Clair Street retail store on Sunday afternoon.
Police were called around 2:19 p.m. on Nov. 16 after loss prevention staff saw two women concealing merchandise in their bags and making no attempt to pay for the items. One woman was detained by staff, while the other tried to hide in the store.
Officers found both suspects and arrested them. A 66-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman are each charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Both were taken to police headquarters, then released with conditions and a court date set for Dec. 22.
