Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 35-year-old Chatham-Kent man wanted in connection with a series of vehicle-related offences was arrested Monday at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre.
Police allege the man repeatedly operated stolen vehicles between February and March across several jurisdictions while prohibited from driving and using licence plates not registered to the vehicles. Officers formed grounds for numerous charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, tampering with a vehicle identification number, operating while prohibited and driving while under suspension.
A warrant had been issued for his arrest. Officers attended the detention centre Tuesday and arrested the man on the outstanding warrant. He was given a Dec. 23 court date and remains in custody.
