Local health partners launch ‘Right Care, Right Place’ campaign for cold and flu season

Local health partners are joining forces again this year to help residents navigate the 2025-26 cold and flu season.

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and the Chatham-Kent Ontario Health Team have relaunched the Right Care, Right Place campaign, aimed at helping people stay healthy, find vaccination options and understand where to seek care — whether or not they have a primary-care provider.

Health officials continue to emphasize the importance of vaccination, noting it remains one of the most effective ways to prevent serious illness and protect hospital capacity. The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is offering a series of vaccination clinics for eligible groups. Clinic schedules and appointment booking are available on the CKPHU website.

Additional vaccination sites — including pharmacies, BridgeCare, MobileCare and primary-care offices — are listed on the CKOHT vaccine resource page.

A major goal of the campaign is ensuring the public knows where to access appropriate care at the right time. Information is available at www.ckoht.ca/rightcarerightplace.

“This campaign is about ensuring that every member of our community knows where to turn for the care they need,” says Adam Topp, president and CEO of CKHA. “By working together across organizations, we can provide consistent information, strengthen access to services, and support residents in making informed decisions about their health.”

The campaign explains the range of health-care options available in Chatham-Kent, from family doctors and walk-in clinics to virtual urgent care and emergency departments. Officials say choosing the most suitable option helps reduce wait times and keeps ERs available for those with serious or life-threatening concerns.

“Prevention and timely care go hand in hand,” says Dr. Briana Yee-Providence, local family physician and CKOHT Primary Care Network physician lead. “When community members know where to go — and take steps like getting vaccinated — it helps keep everyone healthier and our health system running smoothly.”
