Walpole Island First Nation announces purchase of 2024 Dufferin Ave. property

Walpole Island First Nation has secured the property and building at 2024 Dufferin Ave., a move Chief and Council say will create opportunities for housing, infrastructure and expanded community services.

In a community announcement dated Nov. 19, 2025, leadership said the acquisition represents progress in Walpole’s long-term vision of growth and self-determination.

Walpole Island officials say the move opens the doors to exciting new opportunities for housing, infrastructure, and enhanced community services and programs.

“The purchase of 2024 Dufferin Ave. represents progress in our long-term vision of growth and self-determination,” officials say.

“This property holds great potential for supporting the future needs of our members and strengthening the foundation for generations to come. We are currently in the process of finalizing this purchase, and Chief and Council will keep the community informed when it has been fully completed. We will also be hosting a community engagement session and creating a page on our website to gather input on what members would like to see for the property.”

Leadership described the acquisition as an important milestone toward building a stronger and more sustainable future for Walpole Island First Nation and expressed gratitude to members for their continued support.
