Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 19-year-old Chatham man is facing several charges after police responded to an intimate partner violence complaint Tuesday night.
Police said officers were called around 8:26 p.m. on Nov. 25, 2025, after a 51-year-old woman reported during a phone call that a 22-year-old woman had been assaulted. Investigators learned the accused had allegedly assaulted the younger woman, causing a minor injury to her leg. The victim also reported a history of previous assaults.
The man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault, assault causing bodily harm involving choking, forcible confinement and failing to comply with an undertaking. He was held for bail at police headquarters.
Police said the victim was also found to be breaching conditions that prohibited her from contacting the accused. She was arrested for failing to comply with an undertaking and later released with conditions.
