Chatham man charged with impaired driving after late-night stop

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 44-year-old Chatham man is facing impaired driving charges after police were called to a convenience store on Grand Avenue West early Friday.

Officers arrived around 1:30 a.m. to find a man showing signs of impairment, including slurred speech and a strong smell of alcohol.

Police say he admitted to drinking earlier and was unsteady while getting out of his vehicle.

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters for breath tests.

He is charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.

The man was released on a Form 10 with suspension and impound notices.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 16, 2025.
