Man charged after shoplifting items from Chatham gas station

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 32-year-old Chatham man has been charged after items were stolen from a Grand Avenue West gas station Saturday afternoon.

Police say the man entered the store around 2 p.m., selected several items and left without paying. He was later spotted walking westbound on Grand Avenue and identified through a description provided to officers.

Police located the man and recovered the stolen items. He was charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was released with conditions and a Dec. 23 court date.
