Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man is facing charges following a reported theft at a retail store in the city.
On Dec. 17, 2025, at about 4:17 p.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a theft in progress at a store on St. Clair Street. Police determined a male suspect was observed concealing several items of merchandise and clothing himself in store merchandise before exiting the business, despite being confronted by a loss prevention officer.
Through surveillance footage, the suspect was identified as a 58-year-old man from Chatham. He was charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. The man was transported to police headquarters and later released with a scheduled court date of Jan. 19, 2026.
