Chatham-Kent man arrested on warrant, charged with obstruction

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 29-year-old man from Chatham-Kent is facing multiple charges following an investigation into a reported theft in Chatham.

Police say officers responded to a call on Dec. 18 about a suspected theft at a business on Park Street. During the investigation, officers determined the man was wanted in connection with previously reported thefts from vehicles in the community. He was later located by officers on patrol, where police confirmed he was wanted on an active warrant.

Police allege the man provided false identification to officers. He was arrested on the strength of the warrant and charged with obstruction of a police officer, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and four counts related to identity documents. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
