Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A man is facing several charges following a break and enter investigation on Richmond Street.
Chatham-Kent police say officers investigated a report of a break and enter at a secure building at about 4:40 p.m. on Dec. 25, 2025. Investigators determined that a male suspect gained entry while wearing a disguise and stole several property-related items.
Later that day, officers stopped a man riding a bicycle that matched surveillance footage connected to the incident. Police say a search incident to arrest led to the discovery of break-and-enter tools, stolen property belonging to various companies, and ammunition. The man was also found to be in breach of existing release conditions.
A 30-year-old man from Chatham was arrested and charged with break and enter to commit theft over $5,000, disguise with intent, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break-in instruments, and failure to comply with a release order. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing, with a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 30, 2025.
