Two charged with trespassing at Chatham retail store

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Two people have been charged following a report of suspicious activity at a retail store in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police say officers responded to a store on St. Clair Street at about 11:54 a.m. on Dec. 28, 2025. Staff reported two individuals removing tags and opening packaging in an apparent attempt to conceal merchandise.

Police located both individuals inside the store with merchandise in their possession. All items were recovered and no theft occurred. Further investigation revealed the two individuals had been previously trespassed from the property earlier this month.

A 31-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man, both from Chatham, were issued provincial offence notices for trespassing and were escorted from the property.
