A community-driven holiday fundraising campaign has paved the way for a new cardiology clinic at the Blenheim Health Hub, significantly expanding access to specialized cardiac care for residents of Blenheim and the surrounding South Kent region.
The Blenheim Medical Health Foundation unveiled the initiative’s outcome during a public event on Jan. 5, marking the conclusion of “Unwrapping the Future of Health Care,” a December campaign that invited residents to symbolically unwrap a giant Christmas gift on the Health Hub lawn through charitable donations.
The campaign raised $104,000 through contributions from individuals, families, businesses and community organizations. The funds will be used to retrofit and equip space within the Health Hub to accommodate the new cardiology service.
Capture Health, a cardiovascular clinic, will establish cardiology care within the Blenheim Health Hub, with services expected to begin this spring. The addition will allow patients to access essential cardiac testing and specialist consultations closer to home, reducing the need to travel to larger urban centres and supporting earlier diagnosis and ongoing management of cardiovascular conditions.
“This campaign showed what is possible when a community comes together with purpose,” said Tyler Mercer, executive director of the Blenheim Health Hub. “The generosity behind this initiative is helping us build space that will support better health outcomes for decades to come, and we are proud to welcome Capture Health as a partner in delivering cardiac care close to home.”
Rob Butler, CEO of Windsor Heart Institute/Capture Health, said the organization is eager to become part of the local health-care landscape.
“We have been deeply inspired by the commitment and generosity of the Blenheim and South Kent community,” Butler said. “We are excited to be part of the future of health care in Blenheim and to work alongside the Health Hub to bring high-quality cardiovascular care closer to home. This initiative reflects what is possible when a community and its health care partners share a common vision, and we are honoured to be part of it.”
The campaign received early support from community partners, including the Blenheim Rotary Club and The Ridge Landfill Community Trust, whose involvement helped generate momentum and encourage broad participation.
The new cardiology clinic underscores the Blenheim Health Hub’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to high-quality, multidisciplinary care for the South Kent region.
