Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Wallaceburg theft investigation resulted in multiple charges after police located a suspect allegedly using a stolen credit card.
On Jan. 3, 2026, police responded to a report that a wallet had been stolen from a parked vehicle on Wallace Street. The victim later reported that their credit card had been used at a gas station on McNaughton Avenue. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and later observed the same individual attempting to use the card again.
A 36-year-old man from Chatham-Kent was arrested after resisting police and attempting to flee. The victim’s wallet was recovered during a search. The accused was charged with several offences related to theft, possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a credit card and resisting a peace officer. He was later released with a court date of Jan. 8, 2026.
