Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 36-year-old Chatham man is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop conducted by Chatham-Kent police late Tuesday night.
On Jan. 7, 2026, at approximately 11:41 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Park Street and William Street. During the investigation, police determined one of the occupants was in possession of a BB gun and a knife, which were prohibited under his court-ordered conditions.
Police say the man was subject to a lifetime prohibition on possessing firearms, crossbows, restricted weapons, ammunition and explosive substances. He was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, as well as possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The accused was transported to police headquarters and is currently being held for bail.
